Introduction
About Me
My name is Alexander Eichhorn. I am a Senior at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, New York. I am studying Secondary Education with a concentration in History. I am excited for my future career as a high school history teacher, and hope to make history come to life for my future students. I look forward to not only teaching the course material, but also the life skills necessary for students to become successful in all their future endeavors as well as contributive members of society.
"all about me" prezi Presentation
One of the assignments for my Instructional Technology class was to create a Prezi presentation that would be used to introduce ourselves to the class. Prezi is a website that allows its users to create Prezi presentations that can be accessed from anywhere online. Prezi is a practical and fun alternative to a traditional PowerPoint Presentation. My knowledge in the use of Prezi will allow me to enhance my instruction in my future classroom, by providing an alternative to PowerPoint. My knowledge in the use of Prezi will also allow me to teach my future students on how to properly use and navigate the Prezi website, providing them with the ability to enhance their own presentations and projects. This particular assignment follows the National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS-S) under Standard 6: Technology Operations and Concepts, where students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations. More specifically the assignment applies to Standard 6 under sections, (a) understanding and using technology systems, (b) selecting and using applications effectively and productively, and (d) transferring current knowledge to the learning of new technologies.
Learning Styles Inventory
Another assignment for my Instructional Technology class was to use the website http://www.engr.ncsu.edu/learningstyles/ilsweb.html, in order to determine my dominant learning style trait. My top three most dominant learning styles were reflective, sensing, and sequential. The results of this short questionnaire align with the style of learning I prefer. In terms of being a reflective learner, I do prefer to think situations through before acting, in both my personal and academic life. I am more comfortable having a foundation of knowledge prior to beginning a specific task or problem. In terms of being a sensory learner, I do find myself in a better position of understanding knowledge when I am able to know the facts and apply them to real world situations. Finally, in terms of a sequential learner, I am one who prefers an outline of what information will be addressed and in what order.
Multiple intelligences theory
Another assignment for my Instructional Technology class was to use the website http://www.literacynet.org/mi/assessment/findyourstrengths.html, in order to obtain the scores of my Multiple Intelligences through a series of questions. My top scoring intelligence was Social or Interpersonal, with a score of 3.43 out of 5. I believe that this is a good representation of my top Multiple Intelligence. The results of this questionnaire does align with my real life intelligences. I do find myself to be a social person by nature. I enjoy discussing ideas, issues, events, and history with others in the hope of gaining new knowledge, as well as new perspectives of knowledge already known. I find that one of the most effective ways of acquiring knowledge is through discussion. By talking to others, and having them share their experiences, a great deal of information can be learned and shared by both sides. Therefore, I believe that the results of this short questionnaire is accurate to my life and way of learning.
